Imphal, June 12, 2025: In a major crackdown, Manipur Police and security forces have seized a large cache of arms, ammunition, explosives, and narcotics across multiple districts during search and frisking operations on June 12.
In Thoubal district, arms recovered from Ikop Pat under Thoubal Police Station include a .303 Rifle with magazine, a 9mm pistol, a 12 Bore Bolt Action Rifle, two 12 Bore single-barrel rifles, and multiple rounds of assorted live ammunition. Additional items included tear smoke shells and rubber bullets, indicating possible prior use in crowd control or combat.
In Imphal East, personnel operating under Sagolmang Police Station recovered two 12 Bore rifles, a .32 pistol, various live rounds including AK-47, M-16, and 9mm, as well as tube launching equipment, smoke grenades, camouflage gear, and a wireless communication set from Champhai village.
A separate operation near Karyam village under Machi Police Station in Tengnoupal district led to the discovery of a suspected militant hideout. Recoveries included a 9mm carbine, two 9mm pistols, local-made IEDs, BP jackets, combat dress, helmet, communication devices, and other logistical items.
In another significant operation, a 27-year-old man, Anshu Raj from Bhojpur, Bihar, was arrested at Mao check post in Senapati district. Security forces recovered two packets of suspected heroin, each weighing over 1 kg, during routine frisking of outgoing passenger vehicles.

Manipur Police have confirmed ongoing investigations into all recoveries and the arrest. Authorities believe the seizures are part of broader efforts to crack down on illegal arms trafficking and drug smuggling networks in the region.
