Shillong, June 13, 2025: In a significant boost to Manipur’s developmental landscape, the North Eastern Council (NEC) has released ₹6.19 crore in May 2025 for the implementation of nine multi-sectoral projects across the state. The details were published in the NEC Yearbook 2025, a flagship publication by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) aimed at promoting data-driven policy formulation and tracking regional progress.
The fund disbursement covers a wide array of sectors including agriculture, education, infrastructure, tribal welfare, skill development, and rural livelihoods - reflecting NEC’s sustained commitment to inclusive development in the North Eastern Region.
Key Projects Funded:
- ₹82.35 lakh for the construction of a Multi-Facility Centre at IGNTU-RCM, Kangpokpi
- ₹37.50 lakh for Integrated Farming System Model Demonstration for sustained economic and livelihood enhancement
- ₹62.61 lakh for backward community support in the Zeme area of Tousem, Tamenglong district
- ₹2 crore for the construction of a Mini Stadium at Luangrang (Nungnang), Noney district
- ₹8 lakh for a 7-day Livelihood Skill Development Program on Kouna Craft (water reed) at Khongabok village, Thoubal
- ₹59.74 lakh for furniture and fixtures for SC/ST hostels at NIELIT, Imphal
- ₹1.35 crore for three projects in Senapati district:
25-bedded Girls' Hostel at Makeng Cheijinba village
- ₹26.40 lakh for establishing a Tissue Culture Facility for disease-free citrus planting materials
- ₹7.2 lakh for a Training Program on Cane and Bamboo Products in Churachandpur
The NEC emphasized that these initiatives are targeted at enhancing infrastructure, promoting traditional livelihoods, and improving access to education and skill training, particularly for backward and tribal communities.

The Yearbook, now in its second edition, was released by the NEC Secretariat in Shillong and is available online at necouncil.gov.in. It provides a comprehensive overview of socio-economic indicators, sectoral investments, and emerging opportunities in the North Eastern Region.
