Imphal, June 22, 2025: The overall law-and-order situation in Manipur remained normal during the past 24 hours, as security forces continued their intensified operations across vulnerable and fringe areas in both the hill and valley districts. In a series of coordinated search operations, a significant cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives was recovered from multiple locations, underlining ongoing security threats in the region.

Large Cache of Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives Recovered Across Manipur

In Imphal East district, two major recoveries were made. At the Mayophung-Sanasabi hill area under Yaingangpokpi Police Station, forces recovered a bipod-mounted .303 rifle, seven live rounds of .303 ammunition, two heavy caliber mortars, 20 mortar bombs, two Burmese IEDs, a pistol with live ammunition, seven No. 36 hand grenades, Baofeng radios, a bulletproof jacket, and combat gear including a helmet and jungle boots. A separate operation at Chingkhei Ching Phaknung village under Lamlai Police Station led to the seizure of INSAS rifles and an LMG, SLRs, a sniper rifle, pistols, a rubber bullet, tear smoke shells, and a large number of live and empty rounds of various calibers.

In Kakching district, from the Nongmaikhong Makha Leikai hill range, security forces seized an SMG Carbine, an AK-47 rifle, a 9mm modified pistol, IEDs weighing approximately 2 kg each, explosive materials, rubber bullets, grenade components, live ballistic rounds, camouflage gear, and backpacks.

A separate operation in Kangpokpi district, in the forested area between L. Phaikot and Leilon Vaiphei, resulted in the recovery of a Pumpi gun, an SLR rifle with ammunition, small and large IEDs (25kg each), and a radio set. Meanwhile, in Thoubal district, at the foothills of Gwarok Mahadev under Yairipok Police Station, security personnel found SLRs, an SMG Carbine, 9mm pistols, grenades, various live and spent ammunition, detonators, launching tubes, anti-riot rubber bullets, and wireless handsets.

These widespread seizures suggest persistent militant activity and illegal arms presence in the region. The recovered explosives, firearms, communication devices, and tactical gear pose a serious threat to civilian safety and law enforcement.
