Churachandpur, June 21, 2025: The Thangting Area Chiefs' Association (TACA), the traditional apex body of the Thangting region, has strongly condemned the proposed removal or relocation of the Suspension of Operations (SoO)-designated camp of KNO (MC) at S. Nabil in the Thangting Range.

In a press release issued on Saturday, TACA accused the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) of making a biased move that threatens the peace and security of the minority Kuki population in the area. The association described the plan as an attempt to appease the majority Meitei community at the cost of the marginalized tribal population.
TACA expressed concern that this move has created fear and insecurity among the local inhabitants. They alleged that the intention behind relocating the camp is to destabilize the region and “cleanse the minority Kuki” from the area through state-backed measures.

Calling on all responsible individuals and groups to resist such proposals, TACA urged for the protection of the existing peace and safety of the local population. The association warned that it would “stand tooth and nail” against any authority or entity attempting to close or relocate the camp, viewing such actions as part of a larger design against the Kuki community.
The press statement ends with a strong appeal to retain the SoO camp at S. Nabil, warning that its removal could severely affect the fragile peace in the region.
