Tuithaphai, June 21, 2025: The Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF) has officially announced the withdrawal of the indefinite total shutdown in Churachandpur district with immediate effect. This decision comes after an amicable settlement was reached between the ITLF and the District Administration in connection with the tragic loss of (Late) Hoikholhing Haokip, Chief of Langchingmanbi Village.
According to a press release issued by the ITLF’s Department of Information and Publicity, the resolution was reached at the ITLF Office in Tuibong, in accordance with Tribal Customary Law. The shutdown, which had severely affected normal life across the district, was imposed in protest following the killing of Hoikholhing Haokip.

In the aftermath of the settlement, the mortal remains of the late chief will be laid to rest at the Martyr Cemetery in Sehken. The ITLF expressed deep appreciation to the women’s groups and the general public for their relentless support in demanding justice for Hoikholhing Haokip.
The ITLF acknowledged the collective efforts of the community in pursuing justice and called the resolution a step toward healing and closure.
