Rengkai, June 10, 2025: The village of Rengkai today honoured and celebrated one of their own, Inspector Jeffrey Hmingchullo Hmar of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), who was recently conferred the prestigious Shaurya Chakra by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, on May 22, 2025, at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi.
In recognition of his exceptional gallantry and service to the nation, a portrait of Inspector Jeffrey was unveiled at Rengkai Bazar, Vengpui, in an initiative led by the Hmar Youth Association (HYA), Rengkai Branch. The portrait, installed at a prominent public location, serves to inspire the youth and honour his bravery.
The Rengkai Village Authority (VA) expressed immense pride in Inspector Jeffrey’s national recognition, stating that his courage and sacrifice exemplify the true spirit of the community. The VA had earlier issued an official statement applauding his Shaurya Chakra honour and pledged its support for commemorative efforts.
As part of a joint initiative by HYA and the Rengkai Val-Upa, a formal programme was held at the Rengkai Community Hall, where community elders, youth leaders, and residents gathered to celebrate the honour. Following the event, the portrait was officially unveiled at the designated site in Rengkai Bazar.
The newly installed portrait now stands as a powerful symbol of local pride, national service, and heroic sacrifice - a lasting tribute to the courage that Inspector Jeffrey Hmingchullo Hmar represents for the people of Rengkai and the broader Hmar community.
