Imphal, June 28, 2025: Former Chief Minister of Manipur, N. Biren Singh, has affirmed that full efforts are being made to restore a democratically elected government in the state, which has been under President’s Rule since early this year. Speaking to the media at the BJP State Headquarters, Thambal Sanglen, Singh emphasized the BJP's commitment to restoring peace and democratic governance in the conflict-hit state.
“We are working to form a government at the earliest. We are a national party and, after assessing the ground situation, I believe a popular government will soon be formed,” said Singh. The BJP leader stressed that the party, along with its allies, is fully in favour of restoring an elected government and ensuring stability in Manipur.
The remarks were made following a high-level meeting chaired by BJP Manipur President A. Shardha amid increasing public calls for the reinstatement of a functioning state government.
Addressing the crisis in the state, Singh noted, “The BJP has not criticised any political party. We are focused only on resolving the current crisis and bringing peace. We are actively engaging with the central government and concerned parties to reach an amicable solution.”
He also expressed optimism, stating that there have been no major inter-community clashes in the past seven to eight months - a sign, he said, of the people’s desire for peace. "Peace is compulsory," he added, highlighting the need for political will and coordination to move beyond the current impasse.
