Senapati, June 3, 2025, Virthli: Since the midnight of May 30, 2025, Senapati District has been experiencing severe flooding that has affected several villages and residential colonies, particularly those around the district headquarters.

Acting on early red alert warnings, the District Administration promptly issued public advisories and carried out evacuation efforts to ensure public safety. As of now, a total of 324 residents have been safely evacuated from the affected areas.

To accommodate displaced families, temporary shelters have been set up at the Skill Centre and the Khabung Karong Community Hall. The administration has ensured that the evacuees have access to essential supplies, including food, clean drinking water, bedding, sanitary items, and other necessities.

In total, 1,322 households have received relief materials as part of the government’s ongoing support operations. In addition, medical camps and mobile health teams have been deployed across the district to provide immediate healthcare services to those in need.

However, the flood situation has also brought significant infrastructure challenges. Power supply and mobile networks in several areas have been disrupted. Moreover, multiple landslides triggered by the heavy rains have impacted key highways, including NH-2, NH-102A, and NH-129A, making transportation and relief work more difficult.

To address these issues, road clearance operations and bridge repairs are currently underway with the assistance of the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) and other support agencies.
