Guwahati, June 25, 2025: The Assam government has launched a renewed and intensified operation against illegal immigration, resulting in the identification and deportation of 88 illegal immigrants from Cachar district over the past month. The action includes the pushback of 59 Bangladeshi nationals and 29 Rohingyas to Bangladesh.
The announcement was made by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who reiterated the government’s commitment to securing the state from unauthorized infiltration. “For far too long, illegal infiltrators have gone scot-free. We are tolerating it no more,” he stated, emphasizing the state’s zero-tolerance policy toward illegal immigration.
The deportations were carried out after the individuals were tracked through intelligence inputs and identified via special operations. All 88 persons were pushed back through the Sribhumi border point in southern Assam.

The operation is part of a larger strategy to protect the demographic, cultural, and territorial integrity of Assam. The government continues to work under the broader ideological and political commitment of “Jati, Mati, Bheti” - symbolizing the fight for identity, land, and home of the indigenous Assamese people.
