Itanagar, June 13, 2025: In a landmark Special Cabinet meeting held today, the Government of Arunachal Pradesh announced a series of transformative decisions to accelerate its ambitious hydropower roadmap under the Decade of Hydro Power (2025-2035) initiative.
The state aims to harness its vast hydropower potential of 58,000 MW, with ₹2 lakh crore+ investment already committed to ongoing projects totalling 19 GW in capacity. This bold push is set to position Arunachal Pradesh as a key player in India's renewable energy landscape.
One of the major decisions includes the approval of an Escrow Account mechanism to ensure transparent and strategic management of the projected ₹4,525 crore in annual revenue from free power, expected to start flowing from 2035 onwards.
These measures are expected to spur industrial development, strengthen energy security, and generate large-scale employment, aligning with the state’s vision for a self-reliant and sustainable future.
