Dimapur, June 3, 2025, Virthli: The 5 Tribes Committee on Review of Reservation Policy (CoRRP) and representatives of five apex tribal bodies held a crucial meeting today with the Nagaland state government, chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton, at the Chief Secretary’s Conference Hall.
Following intense deliberations, the state government assured that the committee’s key demands—outlined in a memorandum submitted on September 20, 2024—will be presented in the upcoming Cabinet meeting. Among the core demands is the establishment of an Independent Commission on Reservation Policy, a decision on which is expected within the next fortnight.
In light of these assurances, and at the request of the Deputy CM and four Cabinet ministers, the committee has agreed to temporarily suspend the second phase of its agitation until June 17, 2025. The committee expressed hope that the state cabinet will make an informed decision and uphold the commitments made during today’s discussions.
