New Delhi, May 23, 2025, Virthli (ONP): Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Rising North East Investors Summit 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, emphasizing the Northeast's transformation into a hub of economic opportunity and cultural richness.
Highlighting the region's diversity, PM Modi stated, "The Northeast is the most diverse region of our diverse nation," underscoring its potential in trade, tradition, textiles, and tourism. He introduced the vision "EAST" - Empower, Act, Strengthen, and Transform - as a guiding principle for the region's development.
The Prime Minister detailed significant infrastructure advancements, including the construction of 11,000 kilometers of highways, expansion of railway lines, and the development of waterways on the Brahmaputra and Barak rivers. He also noted the establishment of a 1,600-kilometer-long Northeast Gas Grid, enhancing energy supply for industries.
Emphasizing the region's role in India's growth, PM Modi highlighted the Northeast's emergence as a key destination for sectors like energy and semiconductors. He announced that the first "Made in India" chip from a Northeast-based semiconductor plant would soon be introduced, marking a significant milestone.
The summit, attended by Union Ministers and Chief Ministers from Northeastern states, aims to attract global and domestic investment across sectors such as tourism, agro-food processing, textiles, healthcare, education, IT, infrastructure, energy, and sports.
Concluding his address, PM Modi called upon stakeholders to collaborate in transforming the Northeast into a driving force for a developed India, expressing confidence in the region's continued progress and prosperity.
