MSDE Secretary Atul Kumar Tiwari Visits Mizoram, Reviews Skill Development Initiatives

Aizawl, May 10, 2025, Virthli (ONP): Shri Atul Kumar Tiwari, Secretary of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), arrived in Mizoram on an official visit to review ongoing skill development initiatives and explore avenues for strengthening vocational training infrastructure in the state.

Upon his arrival, Shri Tiwari held a meeting with senior officials of the Labour, Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (LESDE) Department, including Secretary Pu Lalmalsawma Pachuau, Director Pu John Tanpuia, and other departmental officers. He was accompanied by Pu B.K. Singha, Regional Director of the Regional Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (RDSDE), and Pu Ishwar Poojar, Director of the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE).

As part of his itinerary, Shri Tiwari visited the Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Aizawl, where he inspected institutional infrastructure and interacted with ITI students. He emphasized the importance of empowering youth through quality vocational education and skill enhancement. During the interaction, students shared their experiences and suggestions, and Shri Tiwari expressed confidence in the ITI’s potential for further development. He also directed Regional Director Pu B.K. Singha to closely assist in implementing improvements.

During his stay in the state, Shri Tiwari is also scheduled to visit other institutions including National Institute of Technology (NIT) Mizoram, NIELIT Mizoram, and several skill training centers under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY). He is expected to visit handloom centers in Thenzawl, showcasing the traditional weaving skills of Mizo artisans and exploring market-driven interventions for promoting local entrepreneurship.

The MSDE Secretary will also hold consultations with officials and stakeholders of the LESDE Department on key strategies for enhancing skill development, youth employment, and entrepreneurship in Mizoram. A detailed discussion is planned with LESDE Minister Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar and senior officers to formulate forward-looking plans aligned with regional needs.

Shri Tiwari is scheduled to conclude his Mizoram visit on Monday, May 12, and will return to Delhi thereafter.
