Aizawl, May 26, 2025: Mizoram Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma met with Union Civil Aviation Minister Pu Ram Mohan Naidu in New Delhi today to discuss key proposals aimed at enhancing the aviation infrastructure and connectivity in Mizoram.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister strongly advocated for the establishment of a new airport in southern Mizoram, highlighting the strategic need to improve air connectivity in the region. Discussions also included matters related to the management of Lengpui Airport, currently under the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
The two leaders also reviewed the UDAN Scheme, focusing on plans for expanding heliport infrastructure across the state to improve air services in remote areas.
Union Minister Pu Ram Mohan Naidu assured that steps would be taken toward initiating an airport project in Mizoram’s southern region. He also directed AAI officials present in the meeting to formally offer a proposal to the Mizoram government regarding future plans for Lengpui Airport. The Chief Minister confirmed that the state government would carefully examine the proposal.

The meeting was also attended by Lok Sabha MP Pu Richard Vanlalhmangaiha, Chief Secretary Pu Khilli Ram Meena, Commissioner & Secretary to CM Pu Vanlaldina Fanai, and OSD to CM.
