Imphal, May 26, 2025, Virthli (ONP): The Imphal Naga Business Association (INBA) has issued a strong condemnation against the filing of an FIR targeting Mr. Ashang Kasar, President of the Indigenous People’s Forum, Manipur (IPFM), and a well-known social activist.
The FIR, reportedly filed by the so-called Sangaikot Sub-Division Defence Committee (SSDDC), Churachandpur, is registered under reference no. 1/SSDDC/FIR(SNK-PS)/25 dated May 22, 2025, and was addressed to the officer-in-charge of Sangaikot Police Station. The complaint accuses Mr. Kasar of making inflammatory remarks - claims that INBA describes as "baseless" and a "blatant misuse of legal mechanism."
Highlighting Mr. Kasar’s long-standing commitment to peaceful coexistence and factual advocacy, INBA stated that the FIR appears to be an attempt to "harass, intimidate and silence" him for exercising his right to freedom of speech.

INBA President KR Annish and Secretary BT Bezaleel signed the official condemnation, urging authorities to withdraw the FIR promptly and ensure that "due process, fairness, and the rule of law" are upheld. The organization also called on citizens to stand united against such actions and defend leaders who speak out for truth and justice.
The association emphasized the need for collective resistance to any effort aimed at suppressing rightful voices in the public domain.
