Guwahati, May 26, 2025, Virthli (ONP): In a major blow to drug trafficking networks, a joint anti-narcotics operation by Cachar Police, Assam Rifles, and the Anti-Rhino Force Intelligence Unit (ARFIU) resulted in the seizure of 648 grams of heroin worth approximately ₹3.5 crore in the Cachar district of Assam.
Along with the narcotics, the team also recovered a pistol, further indicating the serious nature of the trafficking activity. One drug peddler was arrested during the operation.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the enforcement teams in a tweet, reaffirming the state’s unwavering commitment to the #AssamAgainstDrugs campaign. He described the efforts as part of a “relentless anti-narcotics operation” and reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance stance against drug trafficking.

Authorities continue to investigate the network and are expected to make further arrests in the coming days.
