Mizo Student Lalhnehpuia Chhakchhuak Awarded Prestigious Anhfeldt Medallion in the US

Aizawl/Chicago, May 13, 2025, Virthli (ONP): In a moment of pride for Mizoram, Lalhnehpuia Chhakchhuak, a promising young scholar from Zarkawt, Aizawl, has been conferred the Anhfeldt Medallion, one of the highest academic honors awarded by North Park University, Chicago.

The award was presented during the university’s graduation ceremony on the evening of May 12, 2025 (local time). Reserved for students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement, the Anhfeldt Medallion is typically awarded to the undergraduate with the highest Grade Point Average (GPA) in their graduating class.

At just 22 years old, Lalhnehpuia graduated top of his class with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. He is the son of Mr. Aldrin Lallawmzuala and Dr. Lalrinsangi of Zarkawt, Aizawl.

Lalhnehpuia began his academic journey at North Park University in the Fall semester of 2021, earning a 50% scholarship for his academic merit and athletic abilities. In addition to excelling in his studies, he actively played college basketball, a contribution that further enhanced his university experience.

A former student of the NBA Academy India in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, Lalhnehpuia joined the academy in 2018. He has since competed in international academy games held in Australia and the United States. In 2019, he also represented at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, USA.

Standing at 6 feet 2 inches, Lalhnehpuia is known for his skills as a Point Guard - a role that led to his recruitment by North Park University, not only for his academic credentials but also for his performance on the court. His selection underscores the university’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded student-athletes.
