New Delhi, May 13, 2025, Virthli (ONP): In a moment of recognition and pride for Meghalaya, a delegation of women from the state’s Self-Help Groups (SHGs) had the rare opportunity to meet and interact with the Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, at his official residence in New Delhi. The interaction was described by Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma as a “great honour and encouragement” for the women representing the state’s grassroots empowerment movement.
Sharing the experience on social media, Chief Minister Sangma lauded the resilience and transformative role of Meghalaya’s SHG members, stating that they have become “beacons of hope and strength” within their communities. He noted that these women have broken social and economic barriers through their determination and have redefined leadership and progress at the local level.
“Our growing SHG ecosystem is more than a network - it’s a movement,” Sangma wrote, emphasizing that the achievements of these women are inspiring others across the state to step forward and lead. The Chief Minister also thanked Vice President Dhankhar for his kind words and gracious welcome, expressing confidence that the meeting would remain a cherished memory for the women involved.
