Guwahati, May 16, 2025, Virthli(ONP): In a significant development, a joint meeting of Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), and the Suspension of Operations (SoO) groups representing the Kuki-Zomi-Hmar community was held today in Guwahati. The gathering unanimously resolved to suspend all further engagement with the Government of India and its representatives.
The decision comes in response to what the stakeholders described as the Government of India’s failure to resume “substantive political dialogue” with the SoO groups. According to a press release issued after the meeting, participants expressed deep dissatisfaction over the continued delay and lack of seriousness from the central authorities regarding ongoing political negotiations.
"Until the resumption of substantive political dialogue by the Government of India with SoO groups, the CSOs and elected representatives shall no longer engage with the Government of India or its representatives," the release stated.
