Tuiṭhaphai, May 24, 2025, Virthli (ONP): The Hmar People's Convention (Democratic) \[HPC(D)] has announced with deep sorrow the passing of Pu Lalthansang Pulamte, widely known as L. Sanga Hmar, the Spokesperson of the HPC(D) Manipur Region. He passed away on May 22, 2025, at 6:30 PM at Max Super Specialty Hospital, Saket, New Delhi.
Pu L. Sanga Hmar joined the HPC(D) in 2008 and played a crucial role in shaping its leadership and peace efforts. He served as a member of the Joint Monitoring Group (JMG) since the signing of the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement and was appointed to represent the party during high-level dialogues with the Government of India. In 2012, he was appointed as the Defence Secretary. On May 22, 2018, following an internal restructuring, he was elected Chairman of the HPC(D), a position he held until 2024. Even after stepping down, he continued to serve diligently as the party's Spokesperson.
The Department of Information and Publicity of HPC(D) expressed deep grief over his demise, calling him a visionary leader, articulate spokesperson, and devoted patriot whose contributions would be remembered for generations.

“In your absence, we feel an immeasurable void,” stated the official condolence note. “Your words, wisdom, and unwavering commitment will continue to guide and inspire us.”
The party and its supporters have extended heartfelt condolences and prayers for strength and solace to his bereaved family.
