Imphal, May 25, 2025, Virthli (ONP): The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) is set to hold an exclusive meeting with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on May 27 in New Delhi to discuss the prolonged Manipur crisis. The meeting follows the landmark Manipur People’s Convention held on May 3, 2025, in Imphal, and comes amid fresh outrage over the recent police action against peaceful women protestors.
COCOMI stated that the meeting will address the unresolved political and security issues in the state, especially following the Gwalatabi incident, which saw the alleged use of mock bombs and tear gas on unarmed demonstrators, many of them women. The group condemned the “unjustified and aggressive crowd control” tactics used by security forces and demanded an immediate cessation of such actions.
Highlighting what it called the “continued inaction and ignorance” of the Governor and key state officials under President’s Rule, COCOMI is demanding a public apology from the Governor, the resignation or transfer of top state officials including the Chief Secretary, DGP, and Security Advisor, and accountability for the use of force on peaceful protestors.
A 7-member COCOMI delegation led by Convenor Khuraijam Athouba Singh will represent the people of Manipur in the meeting. The organization reiterated its firm stance on justice, peace, and respect for democratic expression, stating, “Manipur shall not be silenced.”
