Guwahati, May 24, 2025, Virthli (ONP): As part of its ongoing campaign "One State, One Mission: #AssamAgainstDrugs", the Assam Police has delivered a significant blow to drug trafficking networks in the state with two major seizures in separate operations.
In the first operation, Karbi Anglong Police intercepted a vehicle at the Khatkhati checkpost and seized 4.899 kg of morphine, valued at approximately ₹5 crore. One suspected drug peddler was taken into custody.
In a parallel crackdown, Cachar Police, in coordination with the Special Task Force (STF), intercepted another vehicle at Sonabarighat and recovered 1.239 kg of heroin, estimated to be worth ₹6.5 crore. Three individuals were arrested in connection with the seizure.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the swift action, reaffirming the government’s commitment to a drug-free Assam under the Assam Against Drugs initiative. Authorities have launched further investigations into the source and intended destination of the seized narcotics.
