Tuithaphai, May 25, 2025, Virthli (ONP): The Liensangvung Award 2025, organised by the Hmar Literature Society (HLS), was held yesterday at the Young Learners School (YLS) Auditorium, Tuithaphai, to honour academic excellence among Hmar students.
This year’s recipients are Alex Remruotlien, s/o Zoremmawi of The Pathway School, and Grace Hmangaikim, d/o James Lianmawia & Vanromawi of Douglas Memorial High School. Both students are members of Hmar Students' Association (HSA) and secured an impressive Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 9.33 in the HSLC Exam 2025 conducted by Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BSEM).
The award ceremony was chaired by Emmanuel Lalṭhuoisuok, Information Secretary of HLS, with HLS Secretary Lallungawi Hmar delivering the welcome address. He noted that this is the 33rd edition of the award, with over 44 students having received it to date.
Donor representative K. Neikham Tusing shared reflections on his late father Liensangvung, in whose memory the award was instituted. He described him as a passionate educator and writer, whose dedication to Hmar literature and learning inspired the establishment of this honor.
The award, sponsored by Pi Caroline (w/o Pu Laldatlien Tusing) and Pi Lalrengliani (w/o Pu K. Neikham Tusing), includes a citation and a cash prize of ₹20,000 each.
In their response, the awardees expressed their commitment to serve the Hmar community and contribute meaningfully to society. Pastor Gospel Lalkanthar delivered a prayer of blessing for the recipients, while Rev. Ros Infimate, President of Hmar Inpui, encouraged them to continue striving for excellence and uplift the Hmar name through their talents.
The event also featured a musical performance by Katie Chatuonlaltuokkim, and a vote of thanks by Rev. Dr. Lalhmuoklien, Financial Secretary of HLS. The program concluded with remarks from Upa L. Thanzam Pulamte, Executive Committee Member of HLS.
The Liensangvung Award continues to recognize academic brilliance and inspire future generations of Hmar students.
