Bilkhawthlir, April 15, 2025, Virthli(ONP): At a time when many young couples struggle to have children, Pu Lalhmangai Ṭhiek and his wife from Bilkhawthlir town in Mizoram have received a rare blessing - they are proud parents to 12 children. The couple has 8 sons and 4 daughters, and all their children are reported to be in good health and well-behaved.
Bilkhawthlir is a prominent town in the Kolasib district. This remarkable family has drawn attention from the local community, especially at a time when larger families are becoming increasingly rare.

In recent years, the number of couples able to have more than a few children has declined sharply. However, Pu Lalhmangai and his wife’s ability to raise such a large family has been described as nothing short of extraordinary. Their story is being recognized by many as a testament to resilience and faith.
The couple, both believed to be between 50 and 60 years old, follow a traditional way of life. They are known to be hardworking and grounded in their values. According to reports, three of their children are currently studying in Aizawl, although financial hardship has made it difficult for them to fully support their education. Nonetheless, the family continues to support their children’s dreams to the best of their ability.
