Tuithaphai, April 14, 2025: In a significant community initiative, the Khuga Ring Road Development Committee successfully carried out the repair work of the road stretch between Khawpuibung and Ngurte on April 14, 2025. This marks the fifth such effort by the committee to improve road connectivity in the area.
The newly restored road begins at the Khawpuibung junction along the Sugnu Road and connects 11 villages, including Khopuibung, Muolbem, Dumsau, Tuaitengphai, Tuibul, Thenmuol, Ngurte, Tuikham, Khuangnung, Daijang, and Tuikhamphai. With many school-going children using this route daily, the road is considered vital for local transportation and safety.
Due to the absence of direct government support, the community members, under the guidance of local leaders and the Khuga Ring Road Development Committee, took the initiative into their own hands. Residents, including youth and leaders, contributed their labor and resources to complete the roadwork.
The initiative received financial support from Singngat MLA Chinlunthang, who donated ₹5 lakh to aid the reconstruction. The road spans approximately 5 kilometers in length and 18 feet in width. The project involved the use of 12 tipper trucks and one JCB machine to complete the work, with drainage systems also improved as part of the repair work.
The Khuga Ring Road Development Committee, formed under the leadership of village chiefs, continues to play a crucial role in facilitating infrastructure development in the region, especially for two-wheeler and motor vehicle users who rely heavily on this route.
