Tuiá¹haphai, April 14, 2025, Virthli(ONP): In response to a series of disturbing incidents involving serious crimes against young and minor girls in the town, LM Khaute, Member of the Manipur Legislative Assembly and former IPS officer, has issued a strong public condemnation.
In a statement released on April 14, Khaute expressed deep concern over the recent spate of crimes, calling them “heinous acts” that have no place in society. He urged for swift and decisive legal action against the perpetrators.
“I feel deeply the pain and fear these incidents have caused,” said Khaute, extending his solidarity to the victims and their families.
The MLA also confirmed that he has been in direct contact with the District Administration, including the Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, and other concerned authorities. He emphasized the need for investigations to be carried out promptly, thoroughly, and with utmost sensitivity.
Khaute appealed to parents, youth, church leaders, and civil society in Lamka to come together, speak out against such crimes, support those affected, and stand united to safeguard the dignity and safety of every woman and child in the community.
The statement highlights a growing concern among local leaders regarding the safety of women and children, and calls for collective community action in addressing the issue.
