IMPHAL, Jan 19 : Thangneikim Fimate, wife of Trinamool Congress candidate in Tipaimukh AC Dr Larlukhum Fimate was apprehended by troops of 22 Assam Rifles along with Rs 10,27,450 from Patbung near Jiri at about 10.30 pm yesterday.Notably, Dr L Fimate was former Director of RIMS and his wife was allegedly taking the money to distribute it to voters.
It is reported that Thangneikim Fimate and the seized money have been handed over to Jiribam police station. This is the third such seizure of huge amount of money ahead of the upcoming election.
On January 17, a Flying Squad team of Income Tax Department seized Rs 36,50,000 lakhs from the Thangal Bazar residence of one SK Jain during the course of an operation.
