The Sir Ratan Tata Trust, Mumbai, offers one-year scholarships at the Masters’ level for students who wish to study in the UK or two-year scholarships in the USA in the broad field of Development Studies, with special focus on Developmental Economics, Public Health or Science-Technology-Society (STS) Studies.

The scholarship aims to provide opportunities for young people to study and train in a set of academic disciplines with direct relevance to India’s future needs.

Preference will be given to students with demonstrated academic excellence, choosing to study in academic programmes not presently available in India, such as Development Studies; Quantitative Development Economics; Science, Society and Development; Science, Technology and Society; Public Health/Community Health etc.

Eligibility criteria:














Eligible candidates are those who comply with all the following criteria:

Indian nationals, domiciled in India, with an excellent academic track record with some evidence of extra-curricular achievement. Candidates with work experience in the selected field of study may be preferred.

Confirmed admission in the UK or USA for any academic course of study in the broad area of Development Studies with special focus on Development Economics, Public Health or Science-Technology-Society Studies. The course should be offered full-time in the UK or USA and not online or by distance learning.

The scholarship covers:

The value of the scholarship is £20,000 per annum which will cover tuition fees and make a contribution towards living expenses.
