Guwahati, November 17: The leadership of the Kuki-Zo community on Monday issued the Nampi Conclave Declaration 2025 in Guwahati, outlining a consolidated political roadmap and reaffirming a renewed demand for a Union Territory (UT) with a legislature. The declaration was adopted by representatives of the Kuki-Zo Peoples, including leaders of the Kuki National Organisation (KNO), United People’s Front (UPF), and the Kuki-Zo Council.

According to the document, the conclave resolved to establish a Working Group mandated to ensure continuous, structured political engagement among stakeholder organisations and civil society. It further formalises the Kuki-Zo Council as the apex body tasked with centralising all future political advocacy and mobilisation efforts.

A key component of the declaration is the creation of a Joint Political Movement Working Committee, which will act as the sole representative body for both KNO and UPF in negotiations and dialogue with the Government of India.

The conclave also reiterated the community’s long-standing political aspiration for constitutional redressal, urging the Centre to address what it describes as the “grievances and protracted suffering” of the Kuki-Zo people. Delegates reaffirmed their “unwavering commitment” to securing a UT with its own legislature and announced grassroots mobilisation to build unified public support for the demand.

The declaration commits to pursuing the UT demand through “persistent, sustained, and unwavering political effort” until it is formally granted by the Government of India.

In a symbolic resolution, the conclave also designated May 3rd as Separation Day, to be observed annually in remembrance of significant political and communal developments linked to the Kuki-Zo cause.

The declaration was issued under the authority of the Information and Publicity Wing of the UPF/KNO.
