Imphal, September 17, 2025: In a major counter-insurgency operation, Manipur Police and security forces apprehended several active cadres belonging to different proscribed groups across the state on September 16, 2025, recovering arms, ammunition, and incriminating materials.
At Lilong Bazar, Thoubal district, three cadres of KCP (PWG) - identified as Md. Shagir Khan (28) of Khabeisoi Maning, Thanshok Awungshi Shimray (37) of Khangkhui Khunou village, Ukhrul, and Oinam Amitkumar Singh (28) of Khurai Top Khongnang Makhong - were arrested. Based on their disclosure, security forces recovered a large cache of weapons from Nongpok Keithelmanbi, including one M16 rifle, five INSAS rifles, three SLRs, two .303 rifles, 382 rounds of assorted ammunition, and 26 magazines.
In a separate operation, two active cadres of UNLF (Koireng) were arrested near District Hospital, Khangabok in Thoubal. They were identified as Huidrom Sangba (40) of Khurai Salangthong and Ningombam Birban Meitei (43) of Churachandpur Khumujamba Meitei Leikai (a/p Heirok Part-III, Ngarouthel). A white Mahindra Bolero, Aadhaar card, mobile phones, SIM cards, ATM card, and vehicle documents were seized from them.
Meanwhile, in Imphal East, police arrested three active cadres of KCP (PWG) involved in extortion and coercion of bank officials to issue loans. They were identified as Thangjam Yaiphaba Meitei (31), Sanjrambam Loha Meitei (29), both from Yumnam Patlou Mamang Leikai, and Tonjam Hemon Singh (46) of Tangkham Maklha Leikai. The seizures included mobile phones, KCP letterheads addressed to bank managers, official seals of KCP (PWG), Aadhaar cards, and sling bags.

At Thanga, Bishnupur district, two active cadres of PLA - Salam Brojen Meitei alias Amujao alias Chamba (41) and Oinam Mani Singh alias Melei (42) - were arrested from their residences under Keibul Lamjao PS. Two mobile phones were recovered from them.
Additionally, security forces apprehended an active cadre of KYKL (SOREPA) from the general area of BP-77, Chongjang village, Moreh, Tengnoupal district.
Authorities confirmed that all the arrested individuals are under further investigation to determine their roles in insurgency-related activities. The coordinated operations highlight the continued efforts of Manipur Police and security forces in curbing militant activities and safeguarding public security.
