New Delhi, Sept. 23: The Government of India has appointed Ms. Gloria Gangte, a senior Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer of the 2000 batch, as the country’s next Ambassador to the Kingdom of Norway.

Ms. Gangte is presently serving as India’s High Commissioner to Malta, where she has played a key role in advancing bilateral ties. Her diplomatic career spans over two decades, with extensive experience in handling India’s relations with multiple countries and working on critical bilateral and multilateral issues.

Confirming the appointment, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said that Ms. Gangte is expected to take up her new assignment in Oslo shortly.

Her posting to Norway comes at a time when India is keen to expand its engagement with the Nordic region, especially in areas such as trade, green energy, technology collaboration, and cultural exchange. Norway, known for its expertise in renewable energy and maritime affairs, is seen as a valuable partner in India’s broader diplomatic and economic outreach.

The appointment of Ms. Gangte reflects India’s focus on strengthening its diplomatic footprint in Europe and underscores New Delhi’s commitment to deepening ties with Norway in the years ahead.
