Shillong, Sept. 16: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Tuesday oversaw a major cabinet reshuffle, with eight new ministers sworn in at a ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, presided over by Governor C.H. Vijayashankar.
The newly inducted ministers are T.D. Shira, Metbah Lyngdoh, Lahkmen Rymbui, Wailadmiki Shylla, Methodius Dkhar, Shanbor Shullai, Brening Sangma, and Sostheness Sohtun.
Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Sangma submitted the resignations of eight outgoing ministers — Ampareen Lyngdoh, A.L. Hek, Paul Lyngdoh, Comingone Ymbon, Rakkam A. Sangma, Abu Taher Mondal, Kyrmen Shylla, and Shakliar Warjri - to the Governor, paving the way for the new appointments.

Congratulating the new ministers, Sangma expressed confidence in their ability to serve the people of Meghalaya with dedication. “May they contribute significantly to the state’s continued growth and development,” he posted on social media after the ceremony.
The reshuffle brings together leaders from coalition partners including the National People’s Party (NPP), United Democratic Party (UDP), Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP), and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), signaling a renewed effort to balance representation within the ruling alliance.
Political observers say the move is aimed at strengthening the government’s performance ahead of upcoming political and developmental challenges.
