Aizawl DC Issues Drone Ban Ahead of PM’s Visit for Railway Project Inauguration

Aizawl, September 8, 2025: The District Magistrate of Aizawl, Er. Lalhriatpuia, has issued an order prohibiting the use of drones and aerial cameras in Aizawl district from September 4 to September 15, 2025, ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the state.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to inaugurate the Sairang–Bairabi Railway Line Project at Lammual on September 13, 2025, a high-profile event expected to draw large public participation. To ensure smooth conduct and security of the programme, the district administration has invoked powers under Section 163 of the BNSS, 2023, banning the use of drones, aerial cameras, or any similar devices during the period.

The order further warns that any violation will result in seizure of equipment and strict legal action under Section 223 of the BNS, 2023.

The directive, issued under the official seal of the District Magistrate on September 4, 2025, emphasizes that the ban is a precautionary measure to prevent security breaches and ensure the safety of the Prime Minister, dignitaries, and the public during the inauguration programme.
