Pherzawl, July 5, 2025: In a significant push towards curbing substance abuse and improving emergency response mechanisms, the District Administration of Pherzawl convened two key meetings yesterday, focusing on the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) and the implementation of the Cashless Treatment Scheme for Road Accident Victims 2025.
The NMBA review meeting, chaired by ADC Joel G. Haokip at the DC Office Conference Hall, brought together a host of district officials, including Additional SP Lunzamung Tungnung, SDO Vangai Lalthanzam, representatives from the District Legal Services Authority, Lenruol Development Agency, and others.
ADC Haokip emphasized the core objectives of NMBA and reviewed progress made so far under the campaign. Attendees discussed a forward-looking strategy that includes organizing awareness drives and a public rally to sensitize communities about the dangers of substance abuse.
In a separate meeting held later in the day, officials deliberated on the Government of India’s Cashless Treatment Scheme, aimed at supporting road accident victims. Additional SP Lunzamung Tungnung, also the district’s eDAR Nodal Officer, detailed the scheme’s operational guidelines. Victims can claim up to ₹1.5 lakh in financial aid and receive up to seven days of free treatment in designated hospitals. However, he cautioned that these benefits are contingent upon reporting the accident to police within 24 hours.

Importantly, victims initially taken to non-designated hospitals must be shifted to authorized facilities post first-aid to qualify for the scheme. The meeting underscored the importance of inter-departmental coordination to ensure the scheme is effectively implemented.
To further streamline redressal mechanisms, Assistant Commissioner Lalsuong Gangte was appointed as the district’s Grievance Redressal Officer.
Officials from the Health Department, NHIDCL, PWD, and other departments also participated in the discussions, reflecting the administration’s comprehensive approach to tackling substance abuse and enhancing road safety.
