MZP Urges Mizoram Government to Act on Influx of Illegal Immigrants from Bangladesh

Aizawl, July 25, 2025: The Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP) has expressed serious concern over the reported entry of 20 to 30 individuals from Bangladesh into Mizoram through Assam, allegedly without valid documentation. The student body has urged the Mizoram Government to take immediate and effective measures to prevent such illegal migration and protect the state’s demographic integrity.

During its 646th Executive Meeting held today at the MZP General Headquarters, the organization stated that while Assam has reportedly taken steps to deport these undocumented individuals, Mizoram has yet to act decisively on the issue. MZP warned that if left unchecked, Mizoram could become a new hub for illegal immigration from Bangladesh.

The student body called for the creation of a comprehensive and well-coordinated plan by the state government to address the issue and prevent potential demographic and social disruptions.

In addition to the immigration issue, the MZP also announced that the MZP Assembly 2025 and internal elections will be held on September 3, 2025 (Wednesday).
