Aizawl, July 11, 2025: In a major step toward easing traffic congestion in the city, the Co-ordination Committee on Traffic Management, chaired by Chief Secretary Pu Khilli Ram Meena, held a meeting today at the Secretariat to review and expand ongoing traffic reforms.
Beginning August 2025, two-wheelers and LMV taxis in Aizawl will be allowed to operate only one day a week, a shift from the current system that allows movement twice a week. This will be managed using an expanded sticker system - from the existing 3 (A, B, C) to 5 stickers (A, B, C, D, E)—to better distribute vehicle movement throughout the week.
The trial covers Aizawl's main traffic corridor - from Bawngkawn to Kulikawn via Chaltlang or Ramhlun, passing through Chanmari, Zarkawt, Dawrpui, Temple Square, Vaivakawn, Hunthar, and Sikulpuikawn to Chanmari West.

The committee also proposed issuing m-pass permits to vehicles restricted under the new system, strictly limited to essential services only, to ensure that critical operations remain unaffected.
This extended trial aims to decongest Aizawl’s roads while allowing authorities to assess the long-term viability of regulated vehicular movement in the capital.
