New Delhi, July 2, 2025: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, in New Delhi today to review the progress of Assam’s key infrastructure projects, especially ongoing National Highway developments.

During the high-level meeting, both leaders discussed the timely completion of flagship infrastructure projects that are vital for improving regional connectivity and driving economic growth in Assam and the wider northeastern region.

Chief Minister Sarma said the discussion was "fruitful" and emphasized the importance of the Union Ministry’s continued support in ensuring these projects are completed within the stipulated timeframe. He stated that the state government is committed to facilitating smooth execution on the ground.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari reaffirmed the Centre's commitment, stating that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) will provide undivided focus and support to ensure efficient and timely execution of the infrastructure works. In a post on X, he noted, “These projects will significantly boost regional connectivity, enhance trade routes, and accelerate economic growth across the northeastern region.”
