Churachandpur, June 19, 2025: The Kuki Liberation Army-Letkholun (KLA-L), under the Government of Kukiland, has strongly criticized the Government of India’s decision to relocate the Suspension of Operation (SoO) camp in Manipur, terming it a “constitutional concern” that threatens communal harmony and violates core democratic principles.

In a press release issued on June 19, 2025, the KLA-L expressed alarm over what it described as the “prima facie partisan” nature of the decision. The group stated that the move undermines constitutional provisions such as Article 14 (equality before the law) and Article 21 (right to life and personal liberty), warning that it could further disrupt the already fragile social fabric of the region.

Highlighting the implications of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, the release accused the government of promoting division and enmity between communities through such unilateral actions. “This maneuver jeopardizes the foundational ethos of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity,” the statement read.

KLA-L urged the Government of India to recalibrate its stance and ensure that decisions related to the ongoing conflict in Manipur are made with impartiality, fairness, and respect for the rule of law. The group called for an independent inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the conflict and alleged biases in the government's actions.

“It is imperative that the rights and interests of all citizens in Manipur are safeguarded without prejudice,” said Jalaimang Kuki, Secretary of Information and Publicity, who signed off the statement.

The KLA-L concluded by appealing to the Centre to adopt a more constitutionally compliant approach that upholds justice and democratic values, warning that failure to do so would deepen the crisis and erode public trust.

Slogan at the end of the release read: "Give me your blood, I will give you freedom."
