Senapati, June 15, 2025: The Poumai Naga Tsüduoimai Me (PNTM) has strongly condemned the confrontation that occurred on June 3 at the Senapati District Headquarters between student activists and district police authorities, calling it an avoidable escalation provoked by the Superintendent of Police (SP) and the Additional SP (Law & Order).

In a press release issued today, the PNTM expressed anguish over what it described as “unwarranted aggression” towards peaceful demonstrators, stating that the actions of the Senapati SP were ego-driven and lacked a people-centric approach. It criticized the police for failing to handle the situation maturely, unlike other Naga-inhabited districts where protests led by the All Naga Students’ Association Manipur (ANSAM) on June 2–3 concluded peacefully.
The organization also condemned the subsequent filing of First Information Reports (FIRs) against several apex Naga student bodies, including ANSAM, SDSA, MSU, MKS, PNTM, TAJ, and ZSU-SZ. Labeling the move as “autocratic” and “a direct challenge” to the unity and democratic rights of the Naga people, the PNTM demanded:
1. Immediate and unconditional withdrawal of the FIRs.
2. Immediate transfer of the SP and Additional SP from Senapati district.
PNTM warned that failure to act swiftly would be viewed as an attempt to suppress legitimate movements and provoke further unrest. It reaffirmed its solidarity with all affected student bodies and its commitment to defending the rights and dignity of the Naga people.
