In response to the incident, the Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, B. Henok Buchem (NCS), issued an official travel advisory on Monday, warning commuters and transport operators of the highway closure and urging strict adherence to the temporary restrictions. According to the advisory, no vehicles will be allowed to pass through the affected area until further notice.

Heavy vehicle traffic has been restricted at key checkpoints to ease congestion and maintain safety. Vehicles traveling from Manipur toward Kohima will be halted at Khuzama, while those moving from Dimapur to Manipur will be stopped at Sechü-Zubza.

Authorities have also announced alternative routes for light motor vehicles. Vehicles bound for Kohima must use the Demori Cove/JCC - Kisama - Phesama route, which will operate as a one-way corridor. Vehicles heading toward Manipur and southern destinations are advised to take the BSF Camp - Chakhabama - Kidima - Viswema - Mao Gate route.

The district administration has cautioned the public to stay away from the collapsed area, particularly around electric poles and conductors that may pose additional safety hazards. Restoration work and site inspections will be carried out by the relevant departments in the coming days.

DC Buchem has appealed for full cooperation from the public, transporters, and commuters, emphasizing that traffic along the alternative routes will be actively monitored to ensure safety and minimize delays. Travelers are advised to follow updates issued by the district administration and exercise caution when using diversion routes.
