Tura, June 19, 2025: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma today laid the foundation stone for the Additional Secretariat Complex in Tura, marking a significant milestone for the Garo Hills region and the state at large.
Describing the occasion as “historic,” the Chief Minister said the ₹156 crore project fulfills a long-cherished dream of bringing governance closer to the people of western Meghalaya. “Once completed, the Secretariat will ensure most government services are accessible directly from Tura,” he stated during the ceremony.
The Chief Minister also shared updates on several other major infrastructure projects aimed at reshaping the state’s administrative landscape. These include the ₹1800 crore New Secretariat coming up in Shillong, Mini Secretariats in Jowai and Pynursla, and the ₹900 crore Tura Bypass.
