Manipur Governor Chairs High-Level Review Meet on IDPs, Border Fencing, and Law & Order

Imphal, June 3, 2025, Virthli: In a significant development, the Governor of Manipur, Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla, convened a high-level meeting at Raj Bhavan on Monday to review three critical issues facing the state: the relief and rehabilitation of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), the progress of border fencing along the Indo-Myanmar border, and the overall law and order situation.

The Governor was joined by Union Home Secretary Shri Govind Mohan, and the meeting witnessed the participation of several senior officials, including Intelligence Bureau Director Shri Tapan Kumar Deka and top state administrators.

Deliberations focused on sustaining and strengthening support for thousands of displaced individuals affected by the ethnic conflict in Manipur. Discussions also addressed the strategic and humanitarian implications of the ongoing border fencing project, highlighting the need for sensitive implementation in light of local concerns.

Law and order, particularly in sensitive and vulnerable zones, was also a major agenda point, with officials reviewing recent developments and security preparedness.

The Raj Bhavan emphasized the central and state governments' continued commitment to restoring normalcy, ensuring security, and facilitating the return and rehabilitation of displaced communities.
