Illegal Arms, Explosives Seized; CKNDF/A Cadre Arrested in Manipur

Imphal, June 16, 2025: In a series of anti-insurgency and arms recovery operations, Manipur Police have seized a large cache of arms, explosives, and communication equipment from different districts of the state, including Thoubal and Imphal West. One active cadre of the banned Chin Kuki National Defence Force/Army (CKNDF/A), a non-SoO group, was also arrested in connection with various unlawful activities.

From Leirongthel Pitra near Canal under Nongpok Sekmai Police Station in Thoubal District, the police recovered a .303 rifle with a magazine, a DBBL gun, a 9 mm pistol with magazine, live rounds, 4 No.36 HE hand grenades, detonators, arming rings, MK-III A2 grenades, stun shells, tear smoke shells (soft nose and chilli), and two Baofeng radio sets with chargers.

In another operation under Patsoi Police Station in Imphal West District, security forces recovered an Excalibur rifle with two 5.56 mm rounds, three bolt-action rifles, a country-made 9 mm pistol, four live 12 bore cartridges, and two walkie-talkies from the Sangaithel and Heibilok areas. Additionally, a 7.62 mm SLR rifle with two magazines was recovered from Sangaithel Makha Leikai.

On June 15, an active CKNDF/A cadre, Ngamkhosat Touthang alias Sasat (38), was arrested from his residence at B. Ebenezer, Tuibong in Churachandpur District. He is wanted in a case involving extortion, kidnapping, arms smuggling, and drug trafficking linked to cross-border operations with Myanmar. Earlier, on May 16, a raid on his hideout led to the recovery of a locally made pistol, three 9 mm rounds, and five letterheads of CKNDF/A.
