Churachandpur, June 4, 2025, Virthli: A sudden heavy downpour around noon triggered flash floods in Churachandpur town, severely disrupting daily life and leaving many areas waterlogged. The downpour, which lasted for nearly three hours, exposed the poor drainage system in the town as rainwater quickly overflowed onto roads, homes, and public spaces.
Residents in low-lying neighborhoods reported water gushing into homes, damaging belongings and forcing some families to seek temporary shelter elsewhere. Schoolchildren were caught in the flooding, with many stranded as waterlogged roads made vehicular movement nearly impossible.
While no injuries have been officially reported yet, residents expressed concern over the absence of a functional drainage network and preparedness measures. Authorities are yet to issue a formal update or take emergency steps, even as affected areas continue to deal with the aftermath.
