Itanagar, June 6, 2025: Arunachal Pradesh marked a significant milestone in its journey toward sustainable urban mobility with the launch of 10 electric buses in the state capital, Itanagar. Announced by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, the initiative aims to reduce emissions, ease traffic congestion, and promote eco-friendly public transport options.
The newly introduced e-buses will operate on key routes across the city, including Lobi, Secretariat, Ganga Market, and Chimpu, providing residents with a cleaner and more efficient transportation alternative.
This green initiative is a collaborative effort between the Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) and the Arunachal Pradesh State Transport Services (APSTS). In addition to improving urban connectivity, it aligns with the state’s broader commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and enhancing the quality of life for its citizens.
Further boosting the sustainable transport ecosystem, a ropeway system is also set to be launched soon. This will help ease traffic congestion in hilly areas and support eco-tourism development in the region.
“This is a meaningful step toward a smarter and healthier future,” CM Khandu stated, emphasizing the state's dedication to clean, green mobility.
