Tamenglong, June 18, 2025: In a historic medical milestone for Tamenglong District, the District Hospital successfully conducted two cataract surgeries in a single day for the very first time. The procedures were carried out by a dedicated team of healthcare professionals led by Dr. Reikhongul Rangla, MS (Ophthalmology).

The surgeries were performed free of cost under the National Programme for Control of Visual Impairment and Blindness, with support from the National Health Mission (NHM) and the Directorate of Health Services, Government of Manipur.

This significant achievement marks a new chapter in eye care services for the remote hill district, improving access to essential healthcare for underserved communities.
