Namsai, June 29, 2025: In a historic achievement that has filled Arunachal Pradesh with pride, Commander Ronie Chowpoo, a first-generation Indian Navy officer hailing from Nalong village in Chongkham, Namsai District, has taken command of a frontline Indian Naval Warship under the Eastern Naval Command, famously known as the Sunrise Fleet.
With this significant milestone, Commander Chowpoo becomes the first officer from Arunachal Pradesh to command a warship in the Indian Navy - a feat that not only sets a benchmark in the state’s history but also serves as a beacon of inspiration for countless youth across the region.
Born in the “Land of the Rising Sun,” Commander Chowpoo’s journey from the remote, serene landscapes of eastern Arunachal to the decks of one of the Navy’s elite frontline warships symbolizes the strength of dedication, perseverance, and patriotic commitment.
