Silchar, June 9, 2025: In a significant breakthrough in the fight against narcotics, Cachar Police recovered 1.5 lakh Yaba tablets worth an estimated ₹45 crore during two consecutive intelligence-based operations.
What makes the seizure even more striking is the method of concealment. The drugs were hidden inside LPG cylinders loaded onto a transport truck, as revealed in visuals released by the police. The contraband was meticulously packed and stashed inside the gas cylinders to evade detection.
A total of four individuals have been arrested in connection with the case. Police also recovered mobile phones, documents, and other materials believed to be linked to the trafficking network.
In a statement, Assam Police reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating the drug menace, stating, “We stand firm in protecting our youth.”
The operation reflects the growing sophistication of drug traffickers and the heightened vigilance of law enforcement in Assam’s border districts.
