In a representation submitted to the Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, ASU president Diezevisie Nakhro and vice president Zhovito Rikha expressed alarm over the slow pace of response and apparent negligence by the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), under whose jurisdiction the highway falls. While acknowledging the efforts of the district administration and state government, the Union criticized what it described as a systemic failure of accountability and quality control.

The ASU noted that the road collapse has caused significant hardship for school and college students, many of whom are unable to attend classes or examinations due to the disrupted access. The effects of the disaster, it stated, extend beyond the academic sector, hampering both intra- and inter-state movement, essential services, and the livelihoods of many in the area.

Calling for urgent and comprehensive action, the Union urged authorities to expedite road restoration works with strict monitoring to ensure quality and prevent future failures. It also appealed for the provision of safe alternative routes for commuters and requested transportation support for students affected by the disruption. In addition, the ASU sought financial and logistical assistance for impacted communities, including daily commuters and transport workers.
