Tuithaphai, May 14, 2025, Virthli (ONP): Zo United’s outgoing Convenor, Albert Renthlei, officially handed over documents and organizational records to Zomi Council Chairman Vumsuan Naulak on the evening of May 13, 2025. Zo United was formed as a platform to unify the Zohnathlak (Zo ethnic) communities in Manipur during times of unrest in the state.
Despite its initial momentum, the organization experienced setbacks due to internal disagreements among its diverse ethnic components. Several members, including the Co-Convenor, General Secretary, and others, reportedly resigned, leading to a lack of effective coordination. Mr. Naulak is going to take over as the acting Convenor.
During the handover, Zo United representatives including Albert Renthlei, Eden Mawia (Mizo People’s Convention President), along with its Vice President and General Secretary, were present. From the Zomi Council, Vice Chairman Khamlianlal, Khatkhotong Baite, Thongkholian, Sonthang, Zam Khan Pau, General Secretary Pauneihlal, and Finance Secretary Anthony Lianboi were also in attendance.
